Afeela, the joint automobile brand of Sony and Honda

The name of Sony and Honda's new car brand has been unveiled. Sony and Honda first announced a joint venture last year to design and manufacture electric vehicles. It will go by the name Afeela.

Yasuhide Mizuno, the chief executive of Sony Honda Mobility, showed a prototype of the company's first vehicle at a presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show, although he provided few details about it. According to him, the car will be available for orders and even purchases in 2025, but the first deliveries to North America won't start until 2026. The vehicle will be produced at a Honda factory.

The emphasis will be on detecting and engaging with people, according to Mizuno, who stated that the term "feel" is at the center of this mobility experience.

According to Mizuno, the vehicle will include interactive and entertainment technologies from Sony as well as safety and driving support systems from Honda. According to him, software and user interface technology have received as much attention during the development of the car as driving dynamics and performance.

A slim exterior display panel known as the media bar runs over the front bumper of the car. According to Mizuno, it will enable the vehicle to display information and communicate with people on the outside.

The business is developing the vehicle's interior user interfaces using Epic Games' Unreal Engine graphics technology, which is used to create Fortnite. Other automakers, like General Motors, have also utilized Unreal Engine's technology, using it in the Hummer EV. He promised that there would be a ton of entertainment alternatives in the car.

The 45 cameras and sensors inside and outside the car, some of which are used to detect the driver's state to help ensure awareness and safety, were another feature touted by Mizuno.
